W/ELCA

The Women of the ELCA met and have come up with some exciting events for 2010. We will begin with a Spring Tea on May 15. Watch the bulletin for further details. We have decided to again honor our elder congregational members which we will be holding in July or August. A Spaghetti supper is planned for October. We are planning another trip to Turkeyville’s Cornwell’s Dinner theatre on June 15 to see Church Basement Ladies the sequel. We will be going with the Spectrum Bus Tours out of Grand Rapids. The price of the trip is $77.00. Shirley will be organizing that. She is contacting the women that attended last year so if you didn’t attend last year and want to this year, please contact Shirley. You can reach her by phone at the church 231-796-8273 or 231-796-7763 home and also e-mail at shirleyh@immanuelbr.com.

POSTAGE STAMPS FOR BETHEL

Periodically ACTION for LSSM reminds you that they are collecting canceled postage stamps. Especially at this time of year we remind you to save the stamps from the Christmas/Holiday cards you receive. But have you ever wondered why, what happens to the stamps as they cannot be reused. Well here’s the story.... For many years, the women of the church have collected used postage stamps to send to Bielefeld, Germany. There, in the village of Bethel, handicapped and retarded people process these stamps to be sold to stamp dealers all over the world. This village supports itself and cares for these people by this effort. This is a worthwhile project supported by the Lutheran Church.

When you remove stamps from envelopes, leave at least 1/4” or more around each stamp. As always, leave your stamps on the LSSM Sewing table at the back of the fellowship hall. Thank you for your kindness and generosity for sharing in this very worthy project. Wishing you all a very blessed Christmas! ~ACTION for LSSM Sewing Group
